Description
The United States version of Champion is a fuzzy, brown bear with black button eyes and a button nose with the American flag on it. It wears a gold ribbon tied around it’s neck. On it’s chest is a badge with the words “2002 FIFA World Cup” on it.
Poem
The United States participated in 5 FIFA
World Cup tournaments (1930, 1934, 1950,
1990 and 1994). The best finish by a US team in
the FIFA World Cup play was third place in
the 1950 tournament. In 1950, the US enjoyed
its most celebrated FIFA World Cup moment
with a 1-0 upset win over England. And in 1994,
many people were surprised when the US was
asked to host the 15th FIFA World Cup.
Collectors note
Champion the Bear was introduced on 4th April 2002.

Each version of Champion was retired separately on the day that country was eliminated from the 2002 World Cup.
The USA version of Champion the Bear retired on 14th June 2002.
