Description

Hello Kitty is a white cat with black button eyes and a yellow nose. She has black embroidered whiskers on the side of her face. She wears a blue and white striped nurse’s uniform with the words “I” and “Japan” separated by a red heart and the red circle of the Japanese flag on her uniform. She wears a blue bow over her left ear. She wears a white nurse’s hat with a red cross on the front.

Poem

In friendship and support of those
affected by the earthquake and tsunami
in Japan, Ty is donating $1 million
to the American Red Cross
relief efforts in Japan

Collectors note

The I Love Japan Hello Kitty was released on 13th April 2011 to assist the American Red Cross in their efforts to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that occurred in Japan on 11th March 2011.

This is the USA version of the I Love Japan Hello Kitty. There was another version for the UK market which came without the nurse’s hat. This USA version with the hat couldn’t be released in the UK for legal reasons regarding the use of the Red Cross logo. In the UK, you can only use the Red Cross for official Red Cross business. The UK version also came without the “Hello Japan, support our friends” tag that came attached the the USA version.
