Yesterday, I posted an article about the four European exclusive moose Beanie Boos, Rasmus, Harald, Birger and Väinö. Each of these moose represented a different country in Northern Europe: Rasmus for Denmark, Harald for Norway, Birger for Sweden and Väinö for Finland.
Well I’ve just been informed that there is a fifth moose! Here he is pictured below:
This little guy is called Egert and represents Estonia, as can be seen with the Estonian flag on his chest. His Birthday is on 24th February.
So there are now five moose Beanie Boos to look out for!
Each of these adorable moose Beanie Boos represent Scandinavian countries. Rasmus for Denmark, Harald for Norway, Birger for Sweden and Väinö for Finland. Even their hooves and antlers are the colours of their country’s flag!
They appear to be European exclusives (possibly exclusive to their counterpart countries, but that is pure speculation on my part).
So far, they don’t appear to be available anywhere, so I’m assuming they haven’t been released yet. But aren’t they cute?!
Today at Beaniepedia HQ, we’re experiencing some pretty miserable wet and windy weather with Storm Dennis, so I thought I’d introduce you all to someone well equipped for the rain!
This cute little bear is called Gordon. He was part of the original Attic Treasures range (before the re-introduction of the line) and released in January 1999.
I think his little bright yellow rain jacket and hat are just adorable!
The Attic Treasures didn’t really have a poem inside their swing tag, but rather a short phrase. Gordon’s was:
“Into Each Life a Little Rain Must Fall !”
So if you have some rainy weather wherever you are, or you’re just having a bad day in general, I hope this little bear cheers you up a little bit.
I hope you’re all having a lovely Valentine’s Day! Or if not, then I hope you’re enjoying the fact that it’s Friday! Yay!
Today, I thought I’d write about two of the 90’s Valentine’s Day Beanie Babies as I have put a lot of focus into the later Beanie Babies and Beanie Boos recently.
These two are often thought of as a pair, although they were released four years apart. I’m talking about Valentino and Valentina.
I’ll start with Valentino.
Valentino was first released back in 1995. There have been so many false rumours about this Beanie Baby, it’s crazy.
Valentino is only really considered “rare” with a 2nd generation swing tag, and most desirably, with a 1st generation tush tag. With a 3rd generation swing tag he is rare-ish, but won’t fetch a high price like the 2nd generation. A Valentino with a 4th generation swing tag was mass produced, so is unlikely to fetch any more than about $5.
When Valentino was released with a 4th generation swing tag, he was given a poem and a birth date (14th February 1994). His poem reads:
His heart is red and full of love He cares for you so give him a hug Keep him close when feeling blue Feel the love he has for you
There have been many listings for Valentino on eBay for ridiculous prices, claiming they have a “rare” Valentino with a “rare brown nose instead of black” and “all the tag errors”. Sound familiar? It doesn’t help when unscrupulous eBay sellers make up shill bids to drive the prices up.
The truth is that ALL Valentinos had a brown nose and tag errors were very common in the vast majority of Beanie Babies.
Valentina (pictured above) is often seen alongside Valentino, even though they were released years apart. She is almost the opposite colouring to Valentino, with fuchsia colouring and a white heart embroidered on her chest.
She was only ever released with a 5th generation swing tag and a 7th generation tush tag, making her quite a common (but cute) Beanie Baby.
Her Birthday is on 14th February 1998 and the poem in her swing tag reads as follows:
Flowers, candy and hearts galore Sweet words of love for those you adore With this bear comes love that’s true On Valentine’s Day and all year through!
I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and that I have cleared up a few of the false rumours surrounding Valentino.
When the camel Beanie Boo, Jamal was first released, I was really excited as he looked so cool and different from other Beanie Boos that were available. At first, he was only exclusively available to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but later became widely available and could be found in both small and medium sizes.
Now I have just learnt that there is a new camel Flippables joining him!
Jameela was just shown in a picture on Ty’s Facebook page alongside Jamal “playing in the snow” in Finland.
I’m not sure if Jameela is an UAE exclusive only, or if she will be available for general release yet. So far, she only appears to be available on the UAE Toys R’ Us website. We’ll have to wait and see if she’ll have a worldwide release.
We have been treated to a few new and upcoming releases from Ty. There have been Beanie Babies like Buckley and Kookoo, Beanie Boos such as Spirit and Phoenix, and the new Flippables, Confetti and Cosmo.
Well now, Ty are releasing a brand new range!
They are called Ty Puffies and so far nine have been announced and most of them resemble Beanie Boos that are already in existence.
The Puffies are similar to the Beanie Ballz that have since been discontinued, in that they are weighted at the bottom so they always land on their feet.
Harmonie is a white unicorn with rainbow coloured spots and multicoloured, sparkly hooves, horn and inner ears. She resembles the Beanie Boo, Harmonie, although she doesn’t share her twisted gold and blue horn.
Now this is a Puffie that doesn’t have a Beanie Boo look-a-like, although there is an older Beanie Boo monkey called Coconut. This version of Coconut has orange fur and purple hands and feet.
Yesterday I posted an article about my top five Valentine’s Day Beanie Babies. Well today, I’m going to talk about my top five Valentine’s Day Beanie Boos!
So I’ll start off with one of my favourite monkeys.
Casanova is special to me as I received him myself for Valentine’s Day.
This cute little brown monkey was released in 2010 and holds a large, pink love heart in his paws. He is slightly older than the other Beanie Boos I’m going to talk about today and has a purple 2nd generation hang tag.
His poem reads:
My temperature’s high and my vision’s a blur I have a bad case of jungle Love for sure!
Casanova was also released in a medium size and as a key clip.
Valentino was one of the first Beanie Baby bears I got (along with Halo and Fuzz) so has a sentimental value to me.
His poem reads as follows:
His heart is red and full of love He cares for you so give him a hug Keep him close when feeling blue Feel the love he has for you!
Although I love Valentino, there is so much false information out there about him, mainly regarding his rarity and value.
To clear things up a bit, Valentino is only worth any more than a few dollars when he has a 2nd or 3rd generation swing tag, the 2nd generation being worth several hundreds of dollars if it is in absolutely mint condition.
There was a rumour that if Valentino has a brown nose then he is worth more. The truth is that all Valentino bears had a brown nose. There was no other colour variation available.
Finally, errors in the tag add absolutely nothing to his value. Tag errors were produced in the millions and are very common among most Beanie Babies.
Having said that, I love Valentino and think he’s a lovely bear.
Lovely is an adorable little white dog covered in a red heart pattern. She reminds me a bit of a dalmatian dog as the heart pattern looks a bit like red spots and I just love the bright red ribbon she has tied around her neck.
Her poem reads:
A wagging dog so cute and sweet Is bringing you a special treat Many warm hugs meant just for you A more lovely pup you never knew!
I’m sure you have all heard of Garfield the cat, the popular comic series created by Jim Davis. Since he has appeared in his own TV series and even feature length movies.
The cynical, lasagne-loving feline has even been made into a few licensed Beanie Babies, one of which is the “Happy Valentine’s Day” version, pictured above.
Smoothie was a cute white giraffe covered in bright red hearts. Her gorgeous fluffy red mane runs down her long neck and she has a tuft of bright red fur on the end of her tail.
Smoothie’s poem reads:
I will search high in the trees For someone that I can squeeze My Valentine will meet me there And we will make the perfect pair!
What did you think of this list? What are your favourite Valentine’s Day Beanie Babies.
Last week I wrote an article about three dog Beanie Boos that are expected to be released soon. Well it appears that at least one of them is now available!
Now don’t confuse her with the 2015 unicorn Beanie Boo, also called Fantasia, although I think the two could be related. This Flippables Fantasia is covered in reversible sequins that change from pink to gold.
Cosmo has reversible sequins are arranged in a rainbow-coloured check pattern. In fact, everything about her is colourful, from her rainbow glittery eyes, to her multicoloured hooves.
Finally, there is Gumball.
Gumball is a pink unicorn Beanie Boo with patches of hot pink, turquoise and grey. Her colouring really does look like it could be on a gumball.
So there you have it! All three unicorns to look out for over the next couple of months. I know my niece will love these when she hears about them (she ADORES unicorns!).
