Beanie Baby/Buddy Variations

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021

Hi everyone!

Today is a very hot and sunny day, so I’ve been adding more Beanie requests to the website. I have had a lot of requests through recently, so if your request isn’t up there yet, it will be soon.

I was looking through my collection and one thing I’ve always loved about Ty Beanies was all the different variations, especially with the older style Beanie Babies/Buddies.

For example, the Roam Beanie Baby (pictured below) is brown, yet the Roam Beanie Buddy is white and has longer, scruffy fur on his back.

Another example of this is with the Batty Beanie Babies. Batty was released in either brown and tie-dyed colour variations as a Beanie Baby, but the Beanie Buddy versions (pictured below) were available in a brown/mocha rose and a black colour.

Beak is another example where the Beanie Baby and Beanie Buddy look very different from one another. The Beanie Baby version is made from a tie-dyed, textured material but the Beanie Buddy is covered in fluffy fur.

There were also name-change variations, like the Tabasco/Snort Beanie Babies and Doodle/Strut the rooster, which were both changed due to lawsuits.

What are your favourite Ty Beanie variations? Leave a comment below!

Massive Beanie haul!

Friday, May 7th, 2021

Hi guys!

I hope you’ve had a great week! I just wanted to share with you all my latest Beanie haul!

It started off with three Beanies from The Magical Gift Boutique, who are a fantastic shop for buying Beanies based in the UK. I saw that they had the suit-wearing Mr. Bean teddy Beanie Baby back in stock and, being a long-time lover of the TV series, Mr. Bean, I had to have him! I was lucky too as later that day, they had sold out again! I also ordered Gertie and Faye (the unicorn fox) along with him.

I have to say that Gertie is actually better in real life than I first thought. She was one of those mad Beanie Boos that I wasn’t too sure about, but now I actually love her craziness!

Last weekend, I also had some luck in Clinton’s as they had a 20% discount on Ty products. I took advantage of that and bought Kate, Fredrick, Lola and Marshall (Paw Patrol). Marshall I bought for my Paw Patrol-loving daughter’s collection.

I had better success in the charity shops this time too, managing to grab a Waddles Mini Boo, two Jingle Beanies (Holiday Teddy 2003 and Toboggan) and the beautiful Rafaella.

Rafaella is part of the Attic Treasures collection and she reminds me of the Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She could easily be one of the fairies from the play. I think she is one of my favourite finds this week.

I also bought Darla, who arrived in the mail earlier this week.

As you may know from a previous post, I have been trying to collect the dragon Beanie Boos. Now I can add Darla and Kate to that set. Yes, I know Kate is TECHNICALLY a Flippable, but I’ve included her anyway since Flippables are pretty much glammed-up Beanie Boos. This is my dragon collection so far:

Now I just need Cinder, Spectra and Merlin to complete the small dragon Beanie Boos.

I also bought an adorable little bear called Cody. He came from a wonderful charity called the Folly Wildlife Rescue who do fantastic work rescuing injured and orphaned animals and birds all year round.

Cody, like most Attic Treasures has jointed limbs that can be posed. So he can wave to you, like this!

He’s just so lovely and fuzzy that I couldn’t resist him. I love the original Attic Treasures as they have so much personality.

Finally…my latest Beanie Boo which I have been wanting for a while now….

Loy!

I can’t believe I finally have this little guy!

Loy is a Japanese exclusive Beanie Boo, and features an additional Japanese hang tag with the most adorable picture on it!

His red Ty hang tag is written in English with the birth date of 10th November and his poem reads as follows:

No truer companion will you ever find
I’m loyal and loving to all of mankind.

I’m so happy I finally have Loy in my collection as he was the only one available in the UK at the time!

Slim pickings….

Monday, April 26th, 2021

Hi guys!

Another lovely day here at Beaniepedia HQ! Freckles took a walk in the park this morning and found a very interesting-looking plant that looked like a cabbage.

At the weekend, we went Beanie Hunting! We went to the charity shops in search of bargains, but sadly there were hardly any Beanies out there! The only Beanies I found were Doby, Silver, Liberty, and Benny from the Ty Monstaz range, but I already have them in my collection.

I also found Rainbow Dash from the My Little Pony set of Beanie Babies, but she wasn’t in the best condition, so I left her.

However, I did find this little cutie….

This little white tiger is called Tundra and she’s so sweet! I love the expression on her face as she almost looks a little confused about something!

This is the first version of Tundra, as there was another tiger called Tundra released in 2014 with glittery eyes that looks very similar to a Beanie Boo, but with smaller eyes.

She has a slightly coarse texture to her fur that has a slight shine to it in the light. Her body is covered in beautiful black stripes from head to toe, with the exception of her belly and muzzle.

Tundra’s Birthday is on 4th September 2005 and her poem reads:

So quiet you won’t hear a sound
As I stalk and prowl around
Watch out or I’ll give you a scare
When I jump out and say, “Hi there”!

All in all, this weekend was a partial success. Although I’ve had other days where I’ve managed to find loads of bargains, this weekend I only managed to find one. However, the bargain I did find, I’m really happy with, especially for £1.50! I bought her from a Cancer Research UK charity shop, so the money will also go to a good cause.

What do you think of Tundra? Have you found any bargains this weekend? Leave a comment below!

We’re Going on a Beanie Hunt!

Friday, April 23rd, 2021

Hi guys!

It’s a lovely sunny afternoon here at Beaniepedia HQ and the best part is…it’s Friday!

We had a lovely walk around the park this morning and Nuts posed for a photo shoot.

Tomorrow, I am hoping to hit the charity shops (thrift stores in the USA) in the hope that I can find some bargain Beanie Babies/Boos!

Up until recently in the UK, most shops, including charity shops were closed due to the pandemic. They are now finally open again, so we are going to see if we can find any bargains!

I love searching charity shops for bargains. Not only is it fun to see what you can find, and you are essentially recycling by buying unwanted things, but the money is also going to a good cause, which makes it even better!

Do you hunt for Beanies in charity shops/thrift stores? What are your most recent finds? Leave a comment below!

New Site Update – Beanie Wishlist!

Monday, March 15th, 2021

Hi everyone!

I hope you’ve had a lovely weekend!

Yesterday was Mother’s Day here in the UK, and my wonderful daughter (with some help from Daddy) gave me two Beanie Boos!

Meet Gumball and Dotty! They are two that I’ve been wanting for a while, but for whatever reason, I just never seemed to get round to buying them! But I’m so grateful for my lovely present, they are both so cute!

gumball beanie boo and dotty beanie boo

I just wanted to share them both with you as they are now two of my favourite Beanie Boos and soooo colourful!

Anyway, the reason for this post…

I didn’t have the chance to post about it before, but last week a couple of improvements/fixes were made to the website!

One was something that has been requested before and something I have been meaning to add for sometime…a Beanie wishlist!

If you spot a Beanie while browsing the website that you want to add to your collection at a later date and you don’t want to forget who it is, you can now add it to your Wishlist area!

To add a Beanie to your Wishlist, click on the “Add it to my wishlist” link on the right-hand side of the page (see the screenshot below):

To view the Beanies in your Wishlist, visit the area at the top of the page called “My Wishlist” highlighted in the screenshot below:

Hope this is of use to you, and if you experience any issues, please get in touch!

Also, one of our members pointed out that you were no longer able to post comments/reviews on any of the Beanies. This issue has now been fixed! My apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Hope you like the new Wishlist feature and stay tuned for more Beanie updates!

Top 5 Mother’s Day Beanie Babies

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021

Hi everyone!

It’s just under two weeks until Mother’s Day in the UK now, so I thought I’d show you five of my favourite Mother’s Day Beanie Babies! As always, these are in no particular order.

The first of these is a lovely white bear called Dear One!

Dear One holds a beautiful bouquet of white roses in her paws, tied delicately with a pale pink ribbon. I love the little finishing touches on her, like the green leaves that form part of the bouquet.

Next is a bright pink bear called Dear Mom.

Dear Mom has more of a “traditional” teddy bear style of face with an embroidered nose instead of the classic Beanie Baby bear, oval-shaped nose. She is made from a soft, pink fabric and holds a delicate pink, mesh flower in her paws.

The next Mother’s Day bear in this list is simply called Mum.

Mum is a light pink colour and has the classic look of a Beanie Baby bear. She has three, pale lilac-coloured tulips embroidered on her chest tied with a tiny, bright pink ribbon.

I love the simplicity of this bear and her poem says everything you need:

She always looks at me with pride
When I’m in need she’s at my side
She cares for me and she’s my chum
And that is why I love my Mum!

Second to last on my list is the bright pink bear, Dearly!

Dearly is a salmon-pink colour bear who carries a huge, white flower in her paws with the word “MOM” embroidered on it’s petals. I like how the white of the flower goes well the pink colour of the bear and it has little details like the darker green veins on flower’s leaves.

Last but not least is Motherly!

Motherly is actually part of the Beanie Babies 2.0 range.

She is a gorgeous light blue colour and covered in a pink, floral pattern. She was released back in 2008, hence the writing on her pale pink ribbon and was a Hallmark Gold Crown exclusive Beanie Baby.

I think it’s such a shame that Ty don’t seem to make any Mother’s Day Beanie Babies anymore and there are no Mother’s Day Beanie Boos at all! I would love a Mother’s Day Beanie Boo!

What do you think of these Mother’s Day Beanie Babies? Who would you put on this list? Leave a comment below!

Happy New Year!

Thursday, December 31st, 2020

Hi everyone!

At midnight tonight, 2020 is officially over! It’s been a pretty horrible year, so I’m hoping 2021 will be much better!

Two bears come to mind today. One is The End (pictured above) and the other is The Beginning.

The End was released back in 1999 as Ty announced that the Beanie Babies range would be coming to and end. His poem reads as follows:

All good things come to an end
It’s been fun for everyone
Peace and hope are never gone
Love you all and say, “So long!”

There was a huge uproar at the thought of no more Beanie Babies, that Ty decided that Beanie Babies were here to stay (yay!) and so The Beginning was released in the year 2000.

The Beginning is a white bear covered from head to toe in shiny, silver stars.

Her poem reads:

Beanie Babies can never end
They’ll always be our special friends
Start the fun because we’re here
To bring you hope, love and cheer!

I’m so glad that Ty did a U-turn on ending the Beanie Babies range as they are just so cute! Even the newer-style ones which at first I wasn’t sure about as they look similar to Beanie Boos, but they have really grown on me.

Hope you all are safe and well and that 2021 can be a better year for us all!

Happy New Year!

Top five Christmas Beanies!

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2020

Hi everyone!

Christmas is almost here! In fact it’s Christmas Eve…Eve!

Today I’m going to show you five Christmas Beanies from across the Ty ranges that are just so adorable!

1. Peppermint

Now, I know I’ve shown her before, but I loooove Peppermint! She has this real minty vibe that makes her look so cute!

She has green airbrushed on her back with white spots which is a nice touch and sparkly green antlers!

2. Goody

Goody wears an oversized red Santa hat to one side and carries a large gingerbread man in his paws. It’s like he’s offering you a tasty snack. How cute is that?!

3. Nicholas

Nicholas is a cute little brown bear Beanie Boo. I just love the fact that his hat is so long that he has to hold the end of it with his paws and the white trim and pom pom are just so fluffy!

I love his green paws and inner ears too as they stand out from his brown, sparkly fur.

4. Klause

Klause is from the older-style Attic Treasures range. I mean the sort that actually look like they are old teddies that have come from an attic and often have jointed limbs. Not the newer Attic Treasures range that look more like a copy of the Bashful range made by a UK-based company called Jellycat (see my other website Jelly Collector to track Jellycat collectibles). Don’t get me wrong, I do like the look of the newer Attic Treasures, but I’m not really sure what the reason behind calling Attic Treasures is as they look too new to have come from an attic.

Anyway, Klause is just so cute and I love his adorable outfit of a long, red, velvet cloak and red hat with the luxurious green trim!

5. Kodi

Kodi is from the Ty Classic range and is so soft and cute! He wears an adorable red and green striped scarf too which is a really lovely touch. I love his blue eyes too!

Hope you’re all well and safe. Leave a comment below on who was your favourite in this list! Or who you would put in this list!

Have a great Christmas Eve Eve guys!

All the Issy bears are now on the site!

Thursday, December 17th, 2020

Hi everyone!

Phew! I’ve finally added all the Issy bears to the site!

There are 63 Issy bears in total which all look identical, but represent different cities where the Four Seasons Hotel is located. Each bear was available at retailers except for the New York Issy bear, which was only available for sale at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York and came with a commemorative card.

All the profits from these bears (except the New York bear) went to the Terry Fox Foundation to fund Cancer Research. The profits from the New York Issy were also given to charity, but instead went to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

The cities represented by the Issy bears are as follows:

Adding these bears to the site was a real task and I’m so glad I’ve finally finished. They are lovely bears, but trying to add 63 of almost the same bear, was so hard!
