New Beanie Baby – Barker

Tuesday, March 24th, 2020

With everything that’s going on at the moment, it’s nice to hear the news that there is a brand new Beanie Baby available!

His name is Barker and here is the little guy pictured below. Isn’t he adorable?!

Barker is a brand new dog in the Beanie Babies line. He is similar in appearance to the Beanie Boos (in fact, I thought he was one at first!) with his large, glittery gold eyes.

Barker appears to be a spaniel-type dog, possible a cocker spaniel, and has lovely floppy ears that are slightly furrier than the rest of him.

Barker’s Birthday is on 24th January and his poem reads:

It’s a known fact that dogs make good best friends.
There is no doubt we’re pals to the end!

Do you have Barker in your collection yet?

Beanie Review – Peachy the Cat

Monday, February 24th, 2020

This weekend, I decided to add another Beanie Boo to my collection, which turned into two Beanie Boos, then two Beanie Boos and four Beanie Babies and THEN two Beanie Boos, four Beanie Babies and a Ty Classic!

I started out bidding on Kiki, then I saw that Jamal had gone down in price on Amazon UK, then I found four Beanie Babies going cheap in a discount store (Tooter, Stinky, white paws Nip and another Peace bear) and then I fell in love with a Ty Classic cat called Peachy.

Today I’m going to review Peachy the long-haired cat.

Peachy is from the Ty Classic line and features luxurious white fur, airbrushed with a very light brown to make her fur appear more real. Her fur is longer on her back and tail.

Her eyes are a gorgeous bright blue colour and she has a cute little peach coloured nose that stands out from the white of her fur. Her whiskers are slightly off-white and her mouth is made from peach coloured thread.

Peachy has a slightly different swing tag from the Beanie Babies range. Her swing tag is a 4th generation Ty Classic tag, which is the same red colour as Beanie Baby swing tags and still features the white “Ty” logo, but features the word “Classic” in gold foil to the upper right of the tag.

The inside of the swing tag doesn’t have a poem like the Beanie Baby range (4th generation onwards or course), but is more akin to 3rd generation Beanie Baby tags with the name (Peachy in this case), and spaces to write “To” and “From”.

The tush tag is quite simple and doesn’t feature a name like on Beanie Baby or Beanie Boo tags. It is also made from a different type of fabric, with more of an embroidered feel to it.

I really like how realistic Peachy looks, and its one of the reasons I couldn’t resist adding her to my collection. She is slightly under-stuffed, so you can pose her lying down or sat up (pictured below).

Ty Classics aren’t the most common collectible Ty produce (Beanie Babies and Beanie Boos are more popular for collectors), however they are so well made, and have such attention to detail that Beanie Babies and Beanie Boos just don’t have (although I love them all!).

What do you think of Peachy?

Do you have any Ty Classics in your collection? Please let me know your favourites in the comments section!

A fifth moose?!

Wednesday, February 19th, 2020

Yesterday, I posted an article about the four European exclusive moose Beanie Boos, Rasmus, Harald, Birger and Väinö. Each of these moose represented a different country in Northern Europe: Rasmus for Denmark, Harald for Norway, Birger for Sweden and Väinö for Finland.

Well I’ve just been informed that there is a fifth moose! Here he is pictured below:

This little guy is called Egert and represents Estonia, as can be seen with the Estonian flag on his chest. His Birthday is on 24th February.

So there are now five moose Beanie Boos to look out for!

Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Saturday, February 15th, 2020

Today at Beaniepedia HQ, we’re experiencing some pretty miserable wet and windy weather with Storm Dennis, so I thought I’d introduce you all to someone well equipped for the rain!

This cute little bear is called Gordon. He was part of the original Attic Treasures range (before the re-introduction of the line) and released in January 1999.

I think his little bright yellow rain jacket and hat are just adorable!

The Attic Treasures didn’t really have a poem inside their swing tag, but rather a short phrase. Gordon’s was:

“Into Each Life a Little
Rain Must Fall !”

So if you have some rainy weather wherever you are, or you’re just having a bad day in general, I hope this little bear cheers you up a little bit.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

Spirit the German Shepherd Beanie Boo Spotted on Amazon!

Wednesday, February 5th, 2020

Last week I wrote an article about three dog Beanie Boos that are expected to be released soon. Well it appears that at least one of them is now available!

Spirit the German Shepherd dog is available on Amazon.com!

His Birthday is on 15th May and his poem reads:

I’m a strong German Shepherd, both smart and bold
With tremendous spirit, and a heart of gold.

There are two other dog Beanie Boos that are due to follow soon, Camilla the pink poodle and Prince the blue husky.

Have you spotted Spirit, Camilla or Prince yet?

Mini Boos Unboxing – Series 1

Monday, February 3rd, 2020

Another Poundland find this weekend!

Last week I reviewed Zappy as I found him and a few other Beanie Boos, including Orson and Nori in Poundland for only £2! As I previously mentioned, Poundland is a UK discount store that sells items for between £1-5.

This time, I came home with one of the Mini Boos!

Mini Boos are hand-painted figurine versions of Beanie Boos that come in a concealed box with a question mark on the front.

I had previously purchased one of the Mini Boos from Poundland and I received Kiki (pictured below), a cute grey tabby cat with a pink bow. When I came back to buy another one, they had all sold out! However, they now have a new batch in stock again! Yay!

On the back of the box are all the pictures of all the Mini Boos available in the series. This box happens to be from the first series. The only Mini Boo not pictured is what is known as the “Mystery Chaser”, a rare Mini Boo that is only available in smaller quantities.

Inside each box is a bagged Mini Boo figurine and a Mini Boos checklist. For some reason, I’ve ended up with two checklists. I’m pretty sure there is only meant to be one as that was what I got with Kiki originally.

Each checklist has the different Mini Boos available for each series with their picture, name and a circle that you can tick when you get each one. There is also a Mystery Chaser picture that you can tick if you’re lucky enough to get it.

Finally, it was time for me to open the box and the Mini Boo inside was…Safari! The Safari Mini Boo is based on the Beanie Boo, also called Safari, who was released in 2010.

Isn’t he adorable?

Safari will sit nicely on my desk alongside the Kiki Mini Boo I got previously. I’m sure more will join them both at some point.

Here they are pictured together.

There are currently four series of Mini Boos available, and I’m now hooked! And this is just the first series!

Do you have any Mini Boos in your collection?

Unicorns, Unicorns and More Unicorns!

Friday, January 31st, 2020

Unicorn lovers, rejoice! Coming to stores either next month or in March are two new Flippables and one new Beanie Boo!

This month, we’ve already been spoilt with Darling, the brand new Valentine’s Day unicorn Beanie Boo. So who else is joining her?

First, we have Fantasia.

Now don’t confuse her with the 2015 unicorn Beanie Boo, also called Fantasia, although I think the two could be related. This Flippables Fantasia is covered in reversible sequins that change from pink to gold.

The next Flippables on the list is Cosmo.

Cosmo has reversible sequins are arranged in a rainbow-coloured check pattern. In fact, everything about her is colourful, from her rainbow glittery eyes, to her multicoloured hooves.

Finally, there is Gumball.

Gumball is a pink unicorn Beanie Boo with patches of hot pink, turquoise and grey. Her colouring really does look like it could be on a gumball.

So there you have it! All three unicorns to look out for over the next couple of months. I know my niece will love these when she hears about them (she ADORES unicorns!).

Which one do you like best?

Beanie Boo Review – Zappy the Platypus

Monday, January 27th, 2020

Yesterday, I went into town to do some shopping and came home with an unexpected bargain from Poundland! For those in the USA who follow my website, Poundland is a nationwide discount store in the UK that sells things from £1 up to about £5. They are literally in every town and city in the UK that you come across.

Anyway, I just happened to notice that they had a selection of Beanie Boos in store! The Beanie Boos in stock at the time were Icy, Asha, Orson, Aqua, Nori, Zappy and Cinnamon. They also had Aqua and Icy in the medium size and various Ty Gear. I decided to buy Zappy the Platypus as I didn’t have him in my collection yet.

Zappy was released in 2019 in both the small and medium sizes of Beanie Boo. He is a purple, pink, blue and white platypus with a fluffy body except for his lavender coloured belly, which is made from the smoother Ty Silk material. His eyes (shown below) are glittery purple and slightly smaller than that of most Beanie Boos. His flippers and bill are made from sparkly turquoise fabric, covered in glitter.

He has a 4th generation Beanie Boo swing tag with the red background and yellow “Beanie Boos” logo and “Ty” written in white. Earlier Beanie Boos had a purple swing tag with a yellow “Ty” logo and “Beanie Boos” written in a pale blue font.

Written inside right of his swing tag is his name, Birthday, which is on 15th September, and a poem. The poem reads as follows:

I’m a platypus who likes to swim
So I’ll never, never need a gym!

The Zappy I bought has the version of the two-tag C1 tush tag that was distributed in the UK (with the Portsmouth address stuck over the front of the USA Oakbrook, IL address).

My overall impression of Zappy is that I just adore the colour of his fur! I think the combination of purples, blues and pinks really compliment each other well (I may be a bit biased as I just LOVE purple!). I think he makes a brilliant addition to the Beanie Boos range (and to my personal collection).

For the information of those in the UK, the price on the shelf for Zappy was £3, which I thought was a pretty good deal. However, when I went to the checkout, he was actually priced at £2! Even better!

What do you think of Zappy?

Simba and Nala Beanie Babies

Friday, January 24th, 2020

I was six years old when The Lion King was released and it quickly became one of my favourite movies of all time. When I heard Ty were releasing Simba and Nala Beanie Babies for the release of the live action movie, needless to say I was thrilled!

Simba and Nala were released at the same time as part of the Disney Sparkle range of Beanie Babies. They are an incredibly good likeness to the characters in the movie. I love all the little details on them like their glittery eyes and the little tufts of fur on their tail. I think Ty have done a really good job with them!

So far, I haven’t seen the live action version of The Lion King. I’ve been skeptical about it being as good as the original, but I’m trying to keep an open mind. I’m sure I’ll watch it at some point.

Do you have Simba and/or Nala in your collection?
