Beanie Boo Review – Zappy the Platypus

Monday, January 27th, 2020

Yesterday, I went into town to do some shopping and came home with an unexpected bargain from Poundland! For those in the USA who follow my website, Poundland is a nationwide discount store in the UK that sells things from £1 up to about £5. They are literally in every town and city in the UK that you come across.

Anyway, I just happened to notice that they had a selection of Beanie Boos in store! The Beanie Boos in stock at the time were Icy, Asha, Orson, Aqua, Nori, Zappy and Cinnamon. They also had Aqua and Icy in the medium size and various Ty Gear. I decided to buy Zappy the Platypus as I didn’t have him in my collection yet.

Zappy was released in 2019 in both the small and medium sizes of Beanie Boo. He is a purple, pink, blue and white platypus with a fluffy body except for his lavender coloured belly, which is made from the smoother Ty Silk material. His eyes (shown below) are glittery purple and slightly smaller than that of most Beanie Boos. His flippers and bill are made from sparkly turquoise fabric, covered in glitter.

He has a 4th generation Beanie Boo swing tag with the red background and yellow “Beanie Boos” logo and “Ty” written in white. Earlier Beanie Boos had a purple swing tag with a yellow “Ty” logo and “Beanie Boos” written in a pale blue font.

Written inside right of his swing tag is his name, Birthday, which is on 15th September, and a poem. The poem reads as follows:

I’m a platypus who likes to swim
So I’ll never, never need a gym!

The Zappy I bought has the version of the two-tag C1 tush tag that was distributed in the UK (with the Portsmouth address stuck over the front of the USA Oakbrook, IL address).

My overall impression of Zappy is that I just adore the colour of his fur! I think the combination of purples, blues and pinks really compliment each other well (I may be a bit biased as I just LOVE purple!). I think he makes a brilliant addition to the Beanie Boos range (and to my personal collection).

For the information of those in the UK, the price on the shelf for Zappy was £3, which I thought was a pretty good deal. However, when I went to the checkout, he was actually priced at £2! Even better!

What do you think of Zappy?
