Peace the Bear

Description

Peace is a tie-dyed, rainbow coloured bear with black button eyes and a larger black nose. He has a colourful peace symbol embroidered on his chest in orange, red, green, purple and yellow thread.

Collectors note

Peace was released on 11th May 1997.

His Birthday is on 1st February 1996.

He was retired on 14th July 1999.

Peace bears come in two general colour variations: pastel tie-dyed or tie-dyed. The tie-dyed versions can also be considered “vivid” or “neon”.

There are also what are known as “pajama/pyjama” Peace bears which have a solid colour. These are desirable amongst collectors, especially with the colour blue.

Some Peace bears include a numbered factory stamp inside the tush tag. “102” neon coloured bears can be worth $15 with the right buyer, and pastel “102” bears go for around $10. Not all “102” stamped bears are neon or pastel. “108” or “113” can be worth $35 or more, especially so with good colouring. “107” and “114” can be harder to find, but aren’t really worth much more than usual. Peace bears made in Indonesia are worth between $10 and $50, depending on whether a buyer is willing to pay for a certain colour variation.

Due to his tie-dyed nature, no two Peace bears are the same and a lot of what they sell for can be down to the individual buyer and whether they like the colours.

Peace can occasionally be found with no emblem. This error is desirable to collectors.
