Asuka – The New Japan Exclusive Beanie Boo!

Thursday, April 25th, 2019

Meet Asuka.

Asuka is a cute, sparkly blue shark with a white belly and bright blue glittery eyes. His Birthday is on 13th December.

Asuka’s poem reads as follows:

I swim in the ocean
I am a fearsome shark
And if I bite you
I’ll leave a nasty mark.

This little shark is exclusively available in Japan and currently not much is known about him and seems to be impossible to find anything out about him. I have found conflicting information as to whether he has even been released yet.

Any information on this elusive shark Beanie Boo would be very much appreciated!

McDonalds Happy Meal 40th Anniversary Teeny Ty Collection

Monday, April 8th, 2019

Check out these little cuties!

To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the Happy Meal, McDonalds have released a total of 36 different Teeny Tys to collect!

There are twelve different named Teeny Tys, but each animal comes in three different colour variations!

The Teeny Tys to look out for are:

You’ll have to be quick to add them to your collection as the promotion ends sometime later in April!

The picture above shows the full range of McDonalds Teeny Tys available to collect.

So far these Teeny Tys are only available in the USA and I’m not sure if they will be available elsewhere yet. Disappointingly, they aren’t available in McDonalds in the UK, which is where I’m based. If they are available anywhere else, please let me know!

Do you have any in your collection yet?

The Top 10 Best Pig Beanie Babies!

Tuesday, February 5th, 2019

Today is the start of the Chinese New Year, and this year is the Year of the Pig!

According to the Chinese Zodiac, people born in the year of the pig are hard-working, optimistic and enthusiastic!

As this year is the Year of the Pig, I have compiled a list of ten of the best pig Beanie Babies (in my opinion, of course).

Here are my favourite pig Beanie Babies, in no particular order.

1. Knuckles the Pig

Knuckles was released back in April 1999.

I always thought this little piggie reminded me of Babe the sheep pig. I liked how she had different coloured trotters to the rest of her and I adore her blue ribbon!

2. Luau the Pig

Luau was released on 29th April 2004.

This little pig could have possibly been named a little more tastefully as her name, Luau, is the name of a traditional Hawaiian party, where the main dish is Kālua pig.

However, I think this cute little pig deserves to be mentioned in this list.

3. Wilbur the Pig

Wilbur is based on the character of the same name from the E. B. White book, Charlotte’s Web.

In the story, Wilbur is a pig that’s destined for the plate, when his friend, a barn spider named Charlotte, saves him from his fate by writing messages in her web to convince the farmer that Wilbur is special and to spare him.

4. Squealer the Pig

I thought Squealer deserved to be on the list considering he was one of the first Beanie Babies released!

This little guy was one of the original nine, along with Chocolate, Legs, Pinchers, Cubbie, Flash, Patti, Splash and Spot.

5. Stubby the Pig

Stubby was a cute little pig released in 2004.

He is a little different to most pigs released by Ty. Instead of the usual peach/pink coloured pigs, he has a beautiful white fur covered in black patches, almost like a Dalmatian!

6. Zodiac Pig

Since it is Chinese New Year, I couldn’t leave out the Zodiac Pig!

This Chinese Zodiac themed Pig was released in 2000, along with all the other animals of the Chinese Zodiac. These included, the Pig, Monkey, Ox, Goat, Dragon, Rabbit, Rooster, Tiger, Snake and Horse.

7. Grunt the Razorback

This scary-looking Beanie Baby is called Grunt.

Grunt is a Razorback, a type of Wild Boar. His tag says that although he looks kind of scary, he’s actually a bit of a big softie.

8. Tepig

Tepig is a pig Pokemon from the Pokemon game and TV series.

Although he isn’t your traditional pig Beanie Baby, Tepig is based on pig characteristics.

Tepig was released along with five other Pokemon Beanie Babies. These were Pikachu, Pansage, Oshawott, Axew and Snivy.

9. The Tale of Pigling Bland

Pigling Bland was a character from the Beatrix Potter book, The Tale of Pigling Bland.

The Pigling Bland Beanie Baby was exclusively available in the UK. He was usually found with the words “Pigling Bland” in blue thread on his brown jacket. However, there was also a variation with gold thread which was exclusive to The World of Beatrix Potter, which is an attraction in Cumbria, and Harrods.

And finally…

10. 2007 Zodiac Pig

This Zodiac pig was released in 2006 ready for the Year of the Pig in 2007.

He is similar in design to Wilbur, but he wears a red collar around his neck.

This Zodiac pig was an Asia-Pacific exclusive Beanie Baby, unlike the 2000 Zodiac Pig, which was available worldwide.

Your thoughts

Do you have a favourite pig Beanie Baby on this list? Or do you have another favourite pig Beanie Baby that I’ve left out? Feel free to share your favourite in the comments!

Happy Chinese New Year!

Here is yet another adorable Beanie Boo due to be released soon!

Her name is Scrappy the Cat and she is due to be released anytime soon. Hopefully she’ll be released within the next month! Here she is pictured below:

Scrappy will be a scruffy grey and beige cat with glittery pink eyes. So far I have no information on her poem or Birthday, but hopefully I can update that soon.

Scrappy appears to have almost curly fur, which is different to any other Beanie Boos that have been released.

Beanie Baby Birthday – Wallace the Bear!

Friday, January 25th, 2019

Today is Wallace’s Birthday!

Wallace was a Beanie Baby bear that was released on 31st August 1999. Here he is pictured below:

He is a teal coloured bear with the same soft, suede effect material as Fuzz the bear, another Beanie Baby bear released in 1999. Wallace wears a cute, red tartan scarf around his neck.

Wallace has a 5th generation swing tag. His poem has Scottish references and reads:

Castles rise from misty glens
Shielding bands of warrior men
Wearing tartan of their clan
Red, green and a little tan!

He was retired only four months after his release date on 23rd December 1999.

Wallace also has the same Birthday as Robert Burns, which is where Burns Night comes from, which is also today! So for those celebrating, Happy Burns Night!

Have you got Wallace in your collection?

New Beanie Boo Alert for 2019!

Thursday, January 24th, 2019

This brand new Beanie Boo is called Giselle! She’s just been released for 2019!

Giselle the Unicorn Leopard is the next addition to the range of Beanie Boos that magically grew a horn and became a unicorn!

The first three Beanie Boos in this range are Heather the Unicorn Cat, Ramsey the Unicorn Lion and Enchanted the Unicorn Owl. Here they are pictured below:

There have also been some other additions in the range. Another Unicorn Lion named Layla was released in October 2018 and Begonia the Unicorn Rabbit was introduced earlier this month!

I love this unicorn animal range! They are so colourful and bright, and super adorable! I really hope Ty produce more of them!

Do you have any of the Unicorn animals yet?

Today is Library Shelfie Day!

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019

Today is the fourth Wednesday in January, which means it’s Library Shelfie Day!

It is a day created by the New York Public Library for book lovers to share their love of books for all the world to see! Here’s Scorch showing off my book collection. As you can see I’m a bit of a Terry Pratchett fan.

While there are various ways to show off your book shelf, from organising them alphabetically to arranging them into some kind of art form, I prefer to just keep it simple.

Speaking of books, there is a Beanie Baby that comes to mind today. Strangely enough, his name is….Books!

Books the bear was released in three different colours: Red, Purple and Blue!

Here they are…

They were released as Back to School bears back in 2005. They all had the same style number (40266) and has the same Birthday of 15th August 2004.

Do you have any of these three versions of Books in your collection?

Also to join in with Library Shelfie Day, you can join in by taking a picture of your bookshelf and sharing on Social Media with the hashtag #LibraryShelfieDay.

New Flippables for 2019!

Tuesday, January 22nd, 2019

I have come across these brand new Ty Flippables for 2019!

The first of these appears to be a version of the Dangler Beanie Boo, but instead is covered in brown sequins that flip to a gold colour. The Dangler Flippable has large, gold glitter eyes just like his Beanie Boo counterpart.
Dangler the Sloth Flippable Beanie BooNext up, there’s a rainbow coloured Flippable called Calypso the Narwhal. His brightly coloured reversible sequins are all sorts of different colours and he has a sparkly gold horn. He seems to be based on Nori the Narwhal, especially with the rainbow colouring.

I have also seen this cat Flippable floating around called Whimsy. She has silver coloured flippable sequins that change to a pearly iridescent colour when you stroke them. She looks so cute!

Whimsy the Cat Flippable Beanie BooI also found a picture of this cute little seal Flippable called Waves. He’s a kind of pearly turquoise colour, but I’m not really sure what colour his sequins are when they’re flipped.

There’s also a new Pixy the Unicorn Flippable. She is just like the Beanie Boo version of Pixy, only she is covered in flippable pearly white sequins that flip to a kind of pink colour. Her glitter eyes are also rainbow coloured.

Pixy the Unicorn Flippable Beanie BooThere is another unicorn called Sunset that is an orange-pink, almost salmon coloured “sunset” colour. She has a glittery gold horn and a fluffy pink mane.

Finally, I’ve also seen Slush the Husky in a Flippable form. He looks a lot like the Slush Beanie Boo, only his fur has been transformed into flippable sequins that alternate between blue and silver.

Have you come across any of these new Beanie Boos? If you have any information on them, please let me know!
