Diego is made from a orange-brown coloured material with a white belly and white eyebrows. He has embroidered green eyes and an embroidered brown nose. He has a tuft of brown hair on top of his head and two large, pointed teeth.

He is based on the Saber-toothed cat (Smilodon) character from the Ice Age movies.
He is one of four Ice Age Beanie Babies that were released. The other three are Sid, Manny and Buck.
