Bumper Beanie Thrifting Haul!

Friday, April 5th, 2024

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to share with you my latest thrifting haul! I love getting brand new Beanies, but sometimes there’s something in the thrill of finding older Beanies second-hand!

I stumbled upon this bunch when thrifting at my local charity shop. I think someone must have been having a clear out of their old Beanie key clip collection as there was actually more than what I picked up here.

Beanie Boo and Beanie Baby Thrifting Haul

I found eight tagged Beanie Boo clips with the older solid (non-glitter) eyes and purple hang tags, including Safari, Waddles, Sting, Bugsy, Spells, Rebel, Nibbles and Peanut.

Solid Eye Beanie Boo Clips

Next, there was an untagged Dangler key clip. He is just so adorable!

To follow on with the Dangler theme, I also found a tagged Dangler Ty Flippables!

I love how Ty changed his face to include a little smile on the Flippables version.

Now we have a Speedy key clip from the retired Beanie Ballz range!

I love his little, round body and his eyes are so charming!

Speedy Guinea Pig Beanie Ballz Key Clip

I also found a Hello Kitty Ballerina key clip in pink!

Isn’t she pretty?!

And finally…

I found this very unloved, untagged Snip that was sitting at the bottom of a basket outside in the rain. I felt very sorry for her so I took her home with me!

She has a few marks on her and is a little grubby, but I have a soft spot for the older cats. I will give her a clean up and I can’t wait to see how she turns out!

Snip Siamese Cat Beanie Baby
The lady in the charity shop sold me all the key clips for £6 and Snip for 50p, making a total of £6.50! Not too bad for thirteen Beanies!

Meet Molasses, Stanley and Foster, The New Anniversary Beanie Babies!

Thursday, March 28th, 2024

Hi everyone! I would like you to meet the brand new Beanie Babies, Stanley, Foster and Molasses!

The links below are affiliate links. If you purchase something by clicking through one of the links below, we may receive a small commission. This doesn’t cost you anything additional and helps to fund this site.

I’m so excited to show you these guys! My new Beanie Babies arrived from The Magical Gift Boutique!

Ty Anniversary Beanie Babies Stanley Foster and Molasses

When Ty first hinted at these three, everyone (including myself) thought they would be remodelled versions of Slippery, Mooch and Slowpoke. Later their names were announced and they were shown on the Ty instagram page as Stanley II, Molasses II and Foster II, so I assumed that would be what the tag read too.

But when they arrived, I was surprised that the “II” had been dropped! I’m kind of glad though, as they have brand new names so it wouldn’t have made sense to keep using the “II”.

Let’s take a look at them a bit closer…

Stanley

Stanley Seal Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Front

Stanley is very similar to Slippery, but he has had a complete overhaul in his design. He sports a gorgeous mint-green colour matched with his yellow tummy! I absolutely adore his innocent expression and little blue nose and blue thread whiskers!

Stanley Seal Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Back

He sits just like Slippery did, using his flippers to sit himself upright. It almost looks like he’s sunbathing! I also like how he looks ever so slightly chunkier than Slippery did.

His Birthday is on 4th May (Star Wars Day!) and his hang tag reads:

Calmly sleep the whole night through,
As my flippers comfort you.
You’ll feel safe during the night,
As I hold you very tight.

Slipery Seal Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Hang Tag

I really love Stanley’s crazy colour combination, as I love the colourful Beanie Babies! He kind of has that 90’s vibe going, where Ty made quite a few brightly coloured Beanie Babies.

Stanley is available to order from The Magical Gift Boutique!

Foster

Foster Monkey Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby
Foster is essentially Mooch but coloured a fiery bright red! His face, hands, feet and ears have changed to a pale pink colour, but he has kept the gorgeous ring of fluffy, white fur around his face.

Foster Monkey Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Face
He has a very sweet expression on his face, his sad-looking black button eyes accentuated by his embroidered eyebrows. His black nostrils finish off his look.

Foster Monkey Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Back
On the back, he has a long, bright red tail, which has kept the little curl at the end that Mooch had.

His Birthday is on 3rd February and his poem reads:

I’m a monkey with no phone
But I’m never all alone.
I visit people that I like
By riding over on my bike.

I love this little red monkey and think he makes a welcome addition to the new Beanie Babies collection!

Foster is available to order from The Magical Gift Boutique!

And finally…

Molasses

Molasses Sloth Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Front
Molasses looks like he could be based on Slowpoke with a redesigned face.

He is a vivid, bright orange, with a turquoise face and bright blue stripes over his eyes. His colours are absolutely gorgeous in real life and much better than the photos I could manage to take of him.

Molasses Sloth Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Face
His back is a solid orange with no other colours, but I wouldn’t have expected that. In fact, he kind of looks like he’s wearing an orange, hooded jacket from the back!

Molasses Sloth Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Back
His Birthday is on 7th August and his poem reads:

I may be slow as you can see,
But I don’t let it bother me.
It never keeps my friends away,
Moving slow is just my way.

Molasses Sloth Ty 30th Anniversary Beanie Baby Hang Tag
I really love Molasses and think he is possibly one of my favourites of this set due to his vivid colours.

Molasses is available to order from The Magical Gift Boutique!

My thoughts…

I am absolutely in love with this set! I’ve always loved the brightly coloured Beanie Babies that were released back in the 90’s and I’m so glad that this set is the most brightly coloured so far!

Molasses is probably my favourite overall of the new Beanie Babies, followed by Stanley and Foster.

I bought the Beanie Bundle on The Magical Gift Boutique, which worked out cheaper than buying them individually.

Plymouth Beanie Baby

Hi everyone!

I would like to wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to all my Beanie friends who are celebrating today!

I’m thankful for everyone for taking the time to get involved on the website. It means the world to me that people find the site useful and I hope it continues to be a resource for tracking your Beanie collection.

Pictured above is one of my favourite Thanksgiving Beanies. His name is Plymouth and he carries a tiny “turkey” in his paws. How cute it that?!

Genevieve the Cat – Attic Treasures Review

Monday, October 11th, 2021

Hi everyone!

In my last post, I mentioned that I had purchased a new Beanie that I’d seen based on one of the requests that I’d added and that I’d do a full review once I’d received her. Well….she arrived!

Meet Genevieve!

genevieve ty attic treasures

Genevieve is a beautiful white cat from the Attic Treasures collection! I couldn’t resist getting her!

I’ve given her fur a comb (well, who doesn’t have a bad hair day after being sent in the mail?), but now she’s back to her former glory. Her fur is really fluffy, so much so that I had to try and comb it out of the way of her gorgeous blue eyes! She has the cutest, embroidered pale pink nose and long, white thread whiskers. For the final touch, she has a little pink rose just above her right ear.

genevieve ty attic treasures

She has a 7th generation Attic Treasures hang tag (not to be confused with a 3rd generation Beanie Babies hang tag as they look very similar on the outside – see the Beanie Baby tag identification guide) and has the following phrase inside:

“Feline Great!”

It’s short and simple but suits her well, as she does indeed look like she’s feeling great.

When I saw Genevieve, I knew I HAD to have her in my collection! As I’ve mentioned previously, I’m a huge cat lover and love to collect the Ty cats. I also love her name, Genevieve. I think it sounds really pretty and goes well with her delicate features. Also…how cute are those toe beans?!

genevieve ty attic treasures

I’ve always loved the Attic Treasures collection. It’s one of my favourite product lines along with Beanie Babies and Beanie Boos. I love how they have a vintage look to them, and like their name suggests, have come straight out of the attic.

Do you have Genevieve in your collection or any other Attic Treasures? What do you think of Genevieve? Leave a comment below!

Latest Beanie Haul!

Saturday, September 25th, 2021

Hi everyone!

Recently I’ve been on the hunt for Beanie bargains! One of my favourite places to go is to my local charity shops!

Up until this week, I haven’t had much luck as there have either been no Beanies to be seen or they have had ones I already own. This week however, I’ve managed to pick up a LOT!

I found a 2000 Signature Teddy in my local British Heart Foundation shop. I just LOVE the colours on this one!

He is a mottled purple and grey colour and absolutely beautiful. He wears a multicoloured mesh ribbon and features the embroidered Signature Bear heart with the year 2000 on it.

Float and Twitterbug are two new bugs to join my collection.

I love how Float has a longer pile on the fabric of her upper wings as it makes them look a little furry. I also LOVE the name “Twitterbug”! It sounds very cute (even though I know from experience cicadas are VERY noisy!).

I also found a few new kitties for my collection! Tabitha, Purr and Miles were also charity shop finds.

Sadly, Miles didn’t have a hang tag attached, but I couldn’t leave her all on her own, so she came home too!

I also found Cara from the Hallmark shop at Lakeside Shopping Outlet in the UK. There were 50% Ty products, so I also picked up Enchanted to go with her.

I picked up Derby (fluffy mane version) and Iggy (blue version without a tongue) as I didn’t have them and they were both cheap. I used to own them both, but I can’t remember what happened to them.

I also picked up some tinies. Stretchy, ‘Nook, Claude and Rocket are all McDonald’s Teenie Beanie Babies, Ozzie is a Halloweenie Beanie owl and Gypsy the St. Bernard is a Teeny Ty.

I found a Flippables Pixy the unicorn in Poundland who is absolutely beautiful! I adore her rainbow coloured glittery eyes!

Here they are altogether…

And finally, today I found four more Beanie Babies. Sheets, Danny Dog, Squirmy and the Cat with Heart Eyes emoji.

Beanie Baby/Buddy Variations

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021

Hi everyone!

Today is a very hot and sunny day, so I’ve been adding more Beanie requests to the website. I have had a lot of requests through recently, so if your request isn’t up there yet, it will be soon.

I was looking through my collection and one thing I’ve always loved about Ty Beanies was all the different variations, especially with the older style Beanie Babies/Buddies.

For example, the Roam Beanie Baby (pictured below) is brown, yet the Roam Beanie Buddy is white and has longer, scruffy fur on his back.

Another example of this is with the Batty Beanie Babies. Batty was released in either brown and tie-dyed colour variations as a Beanie Baby, but the Beanie Buddy versions (pictured below) were available in a brown/mocha rose and a black colour.

Beak is another example where the Beanie Baby and Beanie Buddy look very different from one another. The Beanie Baby version is made from a tie-dyed, textured material but the Beanie Buddy is covered in fluffy fur.

There were also name-change variations, like the Tabasco/Snort Beanie Babies and Doodle/Strut the rooster, which were both changed due to lawsuits.

What are your favourite Ty Beanie variations? Leave a comment below!

Massive Beanie haul!

Friday, May 7th, 2021

Hi guys!

I hope you’ve had a great week! I just wanted to share with you all my latest Beanie haul!

It started off with three Beanies from The Magical Gift Boutique, who are a fantastic shop for buying Beanies based in the UK. I saw that they had the suit-wearing Mr. Bean teddy Beanie Baby back in stock and, being a long-time lover of the TV series, Mr. Bean, I had to have him! I was lucky too as later that day, they had sold out again! I also ordered Gertie and Faye (the unicorn fox) along with him.

I have to say that Gertie is actually better in real life than I first thought. She was one of those mad Beanie Boos that I wasn’t too sure about, but now I actually love her craziness!

Last weekend, I also had some luck in Clinton’s as they had a 20% discount on Ty products. I took advantage of that and bought Kate, Fredrick, Lola and Marshall (Paw Patrol). Marshall I bought for my Paw Patrol-loving daughter’s collection.

I had better success in the charity shops this time too, managing to grab a Waddles Mini Boo, two Jingle Beanies (Holiday Teddy 2003 and Toboggan) and the beautiful Rafaella.

Rafaella is part of the Attic Treasures collection and she reminds me of the Shakespeare play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She could easily be one of the fairies from the play. I think she is one of my favourite finds this week.

I also bought Darla, who arrived in the mail earlier this week.

As you may know from a previous post, I have been trying to collect the dragon Beanie Boos. Now I can add Darla and Kate to that set. Yes, I know Kate is TECHNICALLY a Flippable, but I’ve included her anyway since Flippables are pretty much glammed-up Beanie Boos. This is my dragon collection so far:

Now I just need Cinder, Spectra and Merlin to complete the small dragon Beanie Boos.

I also bought an adorable little bear called Cody. He came from a wonderful charity called the Folly Wildlife Rescue who do fantastic work rescuing injured and orphaned animals and birds all year round.

Cody, like most Attic Treasures has jointed limbs that can be posed. So he can wave to you, like this!

He’s just so lovely and fuzzy that I couldn’t resist him. I love the original Attic Treasures as they have so much personality.

Finally…my latest Beanie Boo which I have been wanting for a while now….

Loy!

I can’t believe I finally have this little guy!

Loy is a Japanese exclusive Beanie Boo, and features an additional Japanese hang tag with the most adorable picture on it!

His red Ty hang tag is written in English with the birth date of 10th November and his poem reads as follows:

No truer companion will you ever find
I’m loyal and loving to all of mankind.

I’m so happy I finally have Loy in my collection as he was the only one available in the UK at the time!

Do you have any Beanie mail/finds you’d like to share? Leave a comment below!

Beanie Baby Birthday – Wallace the Bear!

Friday, January 25th, 2019

Today is Wallace’s Birthday!

Wallace was a Beanie Baby bear that was released on 31st August 1999. Here he is pictured below:

He is a teal coloured bear with the same soft, suede effect material as Fuzz the bear, another Beanie Baby bear released in 1999. Wallace wears a cute, red tartan scarf around his neck.

Wallace has a 5th generation swing tag. His poem has Scottish references and reads:

Castles rise from misty glens
Shielding bands of warrior men
Wearing tartan of their clan
Red, green and a little tan!

He was retired only four months after his release date on 23rd December 1999.

Wallace also has the same Birthday as Robert Burns, which is where Burns Night comes from, which is also today! So for those celebrating, Happy Burns Night!

Have you got Wallace in your collection?

The Original Nine Beanie Babies

Thursday, October 11th, 2012

How it all began…

In 1993, at the World Toy Fair in New York City, nine small, plush-like toys made their introduction to the world, styled in various animal forms. But these plush toys were unlike the usual plush toys filling the market. The new toys were partially filled with PVC plastic pellets, or “beans”, which had a new, unique appearance. As a result, they were incredibly posable. These bean-filled animals would soon become what is now known as the “Original Nine” Beanie Babies.

Despite critics who being sceptical of their appearance, gave them horrific nicknames like “road-kill” due to their somewhat flattened appearance, little did they know that Beanie Babies would shortly become a worldwide phenomenon!

Initially, they didn’t catch on. However, when they did, they were a global success and undoubtedly became one the most successful toys ever! Millions of Beanie Babies were simultaneously sold around the world with hundreds of different characters flooding on to the market.

Ty had a simple marketing strategy, and that was to keep it simple! Each character would only have a few colours of fabric and simple facial features. Every Beanie Baby adorned a red heart swing tag featuring the word “Ty” on the front in white. The first generation tags were simple double-sided paper tags including the name and style number on the rear of the tag. Poems were eventually introduced on 4th generation swing tags, giving a personality to each Beanie Baby. Tush tags were small fabric tags which initially were white with black lettering (later changed to red lettering) and were attached to the Beanie Baby’s rear end.

Finally, it’s time to introduce you to the Original Nine Beanie Babies!…

Chocolate the Moose

Chocolate the Moose Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“Licorice, gum and peppermint candy
This moose always has these handy
But there is one more thing he likes to eat
Can you guess his favourite treat?”

Chocolate is a dark brown moose with orange antlers. He lays flat, but can be posed seated if you prefer.

He didn’t receive a poem until he featured a 4th generation swing tag. His poem suggests that his favourite treat is chocolate. Also, you’ve got to love the pun in his name…Chocolate Moose!

Chocolate was one of the last of the Original Nine Beanie Babies to retire, eventually doing so on 31st December 1998.

Cubbie the Bear

Cubbie the Bear Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“Cubbie used to eat crackers and honey
And what happened to him was funny
He was stung by fourteen bees
Now Cubbie eats broccoli and cheese!”

Poor Cubbie. I’m not quite sure what’s funny about being stung by fourteen bees. Incidentally, Cubbie wasn’t really his original name. When the cute little brown bear was first introduced, it was under the name “Brownie”, but shortly after his release, Brownie was retired and was re-introduced as Cubbie. The two are almost identical in every way except for the name difference. Cubbie eventually went into retirement on 31st December 1997.

Flash the Dolphin

Flash the Dolphin Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“You know dolphins are a smart breed
Our friend Flash knows how to read
Splash the Whale is the one who taught her
Although reading is difficult under the water!”

Flash, the adorable grey dolphin has her birthday on 13th May 1993.

Apparently, Flash and Splash are good friends because Splash is the whale who taught Flash to read. Flash and Splash were retired together on 11th May 1997 with Echo the Dolphin taking her place.

Legs the Frog

Legs the Frog Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“Legs lives in a hollow log
Legs likes to play leap frog
If you like to hang out at the lake
Legs will be the new friend you make!”

Legs is a bright green coloured frog who was introduced 8th January 1994. His birthday is on 25th April 1993.

His eyes were slightly different to the solid black buttons of the other Original Nine because they were black buttons with a green ring around the edge. According to his poem, Legs loves to play leap frog and hang out by the lake. He will also be the new friend you make!

Legs is one of the easier of the Original Nine to get hold of, especially with a 4th generation hang tag. He was retired on 1st October 1997.

Patti the Platypus

Patti the Platypus Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“Ran into Patti one day while walking
Believe me she wouldn’t stop talking
Listened and listened to her speak
That would explain her extra large beak!”

Patti has had four different colour changes in her lifetime! She was originally released in a magenta, almost red colour but has also been fuchsia, maroon and raspberry!

She was born on 6th January 1993.

The original magenta version is incredibly rare and fetches a lot of money when sold.

Pinchers the Lobster

Pinchers the Lobster Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“This lobster loves to pinch
Eating his food inch by inch
Balancing carefully with his tail
Moving forward slow as a snail!”

Pinchers was originally released under the name “Punchers”. However, this is thought to be a spelling error as Punchers was quickly retired and re-released as Pinchers.

Pinchers is bright red in colour with cute black button eyes and black thread antennae, but he was also later released as a McDonald’s Teenie Beanie and a Beanie Buddy. Pinchers’ birthday is on 19th June 1993 and he didn’t retire until 1st May 1998.

Splash the Whale

Splash the Whale Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“Splash loves to jump and dive
He’s the fastest whale alive
He always wins the 100-yard dash
With a victory jump he’ll make a splash!”

Splash is a black and white orca whale who was introduced on 8th January 1994. He makes a great pair with Flash the Dolphin because according to Flash’s poem, Splash was the one who taught her to read. He also has the signature black button eyes.

Splash was one of the first of the Original Nine to be retired and did so on 11th May 1997.

Spot the Dog

Spot the Dog Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“See Spot sprint, see Spot run
You and Spot will have lots of fun
Watch out now, because he’s not slow
Just stand back and watch him go!”

Spot is a white coloured dog with black ears, a black patch on the left side of his face and the majority of those released have a black spot on his back. He was finally retired on 1st October 1997.

Earlier versions of Spot were released missing a spot. This “spot-less” Spot was quickly taken off the market and later re-introduced with the spot. The earlier version with the missing spot is considered to be much more valuable than the later version.

Squealer the Pig

Squealer the Pig Ty Original Nine Beanie Baby

POEM

“Squealer likes to joke around
He is known as class clown
Listen to his stories awhile
There is no doubt he’ll make you smile!”

Squealer was introduced to the market on 8th January 1994. He is a pale pink pig with a slightly darker pink snout, ears and curly tail. His cute little black button eyes are just calling out for a cuddle. Additionally, he was one of the longest running of the Original Nine, only retiring on 1st May 1998. His birthday is on 23rd April 1993.

Do you have any of the Original Nine Beanie Babies?
