Beanie Boo Review – Zappy the Platypus

Monday, January 27th, 2020

Yesterday, I went into town to do some shopping and came home with an unexpected bargain from Poundland! For those in the USA who follow my website, Poundland is a nationwide discount store in the UK that sells things from £1 up to about £5. They are literally in every town and city in the UK that you come across.

Anyway, I just happened to notice that they had a selection of Beanie Boos in store! The Beanie Boos in stock at the time were Icy, Asha, Orson, Aqua, Nori, Zappy and Cinnamon. They also had Aqua and Icy in the medium size and various Ty Gear. I decided to buy Zappy the Platypus as I didn’t have him in my collection yet.

Zappy was released in 2019 in both the small and medium sizes of Beanie Boo. He is a purple, pink, blue and white platypus with a fluffy body except for his lavender coloured belly, which is made from the smoother Ty Silk material. His eyes (shown below) are glittery purple and slightly smaller than that of most Beanie Boos. His flippers and bill are made from sparkly turquoise fabric, covered in glitter.

He has a 4th generation Beanie Boo swing tag with the red background and yellow “Beanie Boos” logo and “Ty” written in white. Earlier Beanie Boos had a purple swing tag with a yellow “Ty” logo and “Beanie Boos” written in a pale blue font.

Written inside right of his swing tag is his name, Birthday, which is on 15th September, and a poem. The poem reads as follows:

I’m a platypus who likes to swim
So I’ll never, never need a gym!

The Zappy I bought has the version of the two-tag C1 tush tag that was distributed in the UK (with the Portsmouth address stuck over the front of the USA Oakbrook, IL address).

My overall impression of Zappy is that I just adore the colour of his fur! I think the combination of purples, blues and pinks really compliment each other well (I may be a bit biased as I just LOVE purple!). I think he makes a brilliant addition to the Beanie Boos range (and to my personal collection).

For the information of those in the UK, the price on the shelf for Zappy was £3, which I thought was a pretty good deal. However, when I went to the checkout, he was actually priced at £2! Even better!

What do you think of Zappy?

Asuka – The New Japan Exclusive Beanie Boo!

Thursday, April 25th, 2019

Meet Asuka.

Asuka is a cute, sparkly blue shark with a white belly and bright blue glittery eyes. His Birthday is on 13th December.

Asuka’s poem reads as follows:

I swim in the ocean
I am a fearsome shark
And if I bite you
I’ll leave a nasty mark.

This little shark is exclusively available in Japan and currently not much is known about him and seems to be impossible to find anything out about him. I have found conflicting information as to whether he has even been released yet.

Any information on this elusive shark Beanie Boo would be very much appreciated!

Another New Beanie Boo for 2019!

Monday, January 28th, 2019

Here is yet another adorable Beanie Boo due to be released soon!

Her name is Scrappy the Cat and she is due to be released anytime soon. Hopefully she’ll be released within the next month! Here she is pictured below:

Scrappy will be a scruffy grey and beige cat with glittery pink eyes. So far I have no information on her poem or Birthday, but hopefully I can update that soon.

Scrappy appears to have almost curly fur, which is different to any other Beanie Boos that have been released.

New Beanie Boos for 2019 – Asha and Orson!

Sunday, January 27th, 2019

Today I came upon two new Beanie Boos that are set to be released soon. Their names are Asha and Orson, and they’re both Ostriches!

Asha is a pastel coloured rainbow Ostrich with a long pink neck. She will be available in both small and medium sizes.

Orson is a brown ostrich with flecks of different shades of brown throughout his feathers and a long beige coloured neck. He will also have small and medium size options.

Both ostrich Beanie Boos should be hopefully available within the next month. I just can’t wait for these two to make an appearance!

New Beanie Boo Alert for 2019!

Thursday, January 24th, 2019

This brand new Beanie Boo is called Giselle! She’s just been released for 2019!

Giselle the Unicorn Leopard is the next addition to the range of Beanie Boos that magically grew a horn and became a unicorn!

The first three Beanie Boos in this range are Heather the Unicorn Cat, Ramsey the Unicorn Lion and Enchanted the Unicorn Owl. Here they are pictured below:

There have also been some other additions in the range. Another Unicorn Lion named Layla was released in October 2018 and Begonia the Unicorn Rabbit was introduced earlier this month!

I love this unicorn animal range! They are so colourful and bright, and super adorable! I really hope Ty produce more of them!

Do you have any of the Unicorn animals yet?

Wednesday, January 16th, 2019

This cute little chick Beanie Boo has been spotted on the internet!

It’s name is Megg and she appears to be a new Easter-themed Beanie Boo for 2019!

Her Birthday is on 15th March and her swing tag reads:

My rainbow shell I have to crack
So I can get a candy snack.

Megg appears to be available in both 6″ and 9″ sizes so far and also appears to be exclusive to Walgreens, although I can’t confirm that yet.

Have you spotted Megg yet?

Hi everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great weekend!

I’ve had a couple of people contact me to say that they have spotted Cherie in stores in the USA, so she is a real new release for Valentine’s Day!

I’m not sure if she’s available outside the USA yet, but I’ll keep a lookout for her!

I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who contacted me about Cherie, it really means a lot when people get involved with the website and help out with information.

Have you spotted Cherie yet?
